Flying in and out of the airport of Mexico City, May, its dangerous than you think
Thousands of residents of Western Washington in the United States to fly to Mexico each year leave.
So I was surprised to see an article in USA Today (7-5-07) to Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. Benito Juarez five facts make interesting and dangerous:
1) This is an area of the city of 20 million people, more than three times larger than the 6.5 million population of the state of Washington.
2) It 'the only airport in Mexico City.
Has 3)two runways and runways that are so close that modern jets, which can not be used simultaneously.
4) During peak periods up to 62 planes take off and land every hour, which is higher than the official capacity of the airport from 54
Used to construct 5) plan to another airport in the capital were canceled in 2002. Apparently, residents armed with machetes against the low prices the government has offered residents in exchange for the country on the site of the planned revolt.
Approximately 763,000 Americansfly into the airport in Mexico City, every year in USA Today.
Compare the takeoff and the landing, the only airport in Mexico City at Sea-Tac International Airport, the Seattle metropolitan area of 3.3 million inhabitants and is considered the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States serves . Seattle does not even appear to be among the Top 90 metro areas in the world.
Sea-Tac International Airport has two runways.
Mexico City has grown particularly strong inlast 75 + years, moving from a city of 1 million in 1929 to a metropolitan area from 20 million today.
Mexico City is considered the second largest metropolitan area in the world today. Only in Tokyo is a major metropolitan area, with 35 million. New York-Newark for the third place with 18.7 million euros.
I have never flown in Mexico, but I would avoid only airport in Mexico City, where I am.
This reminds me of the words of President Ronald Reagan said that when she scolded the press for not spending more time so that the Oval Office."People tell me that hard work never killed anyone," said Reagan, "but I figure, why try to fate?"
